2/24/15-3/9/15: Diving, Sending, Gratitude

In honor of Theodore Seuss Geisel's birthday on March 2nd, we'll be incorporating early literacy into all of our classes and playing with fun Seuss characters and games.
Swim
Swimmers will learn to dive in head first and gain independence on feet first jumps.  We will encourage independent breathing and swimming longer distances by starting each turn with a jump/dive.  All students will work on age/level appropriate skills.  
  • Jump in and swim Back to the Wall
  • Recognize when/where to dive Safely
  • Gain independence while Jumping
  • Assisted Head First entries
  • Create-a-Story swims
  • Jump/Dive in and swim 1-3 Breaths
  • Refine Diving technique
  • Racing Starts
  • Sprints

Climb
Climbers will learn that hard work pays off by projecting and making a plan to send. "And will you succeed? Yes you will indeed!  (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed)".  Each class will cover age/level appropriate skills.  The majority of the class will be spent bouldering. 
  • Finding Wockets in Pocket holds
  • Recognizing & climbing on an Arete
  • Choosing and working on a Project
  • Choosing climbs that you can Flash
  • Following tape and Sending
  • Oh, the Places You'll Go Awards

      Yogis will be discussing gratitude and playing with Seuss inspired poses!  Thanks to Omazing kids for some inspiration.
