August, September 2017: Kicks, Footwork, Toega

NO classes 8/19/17-9/9/17.  
We'll kick off the fall schedule after the break!
It's time to dive down deep!  We're going on a deep sea adventure to stretch with the octopus and chill out with the sea turtles.  We'll practice kicking in the pool, footwork on the wall, and massage our feet on the mat.
  • Beginning Alternating Leg kicks
  • Working toward proper Flutter Kick
  • Freestyle/Backstroke kicks with Flippers
  • Continuous kicking during breath (Roll-Overs)
  • Consistent Kick in freestyle breath
  • Breaststroke frog kicks
  • Butterfly mermaid kicks
  • Experimenting with different leg movements
    while Treading Water

Climb
Climbers will be focusing on footwork.  The majority of the class will be spent bouldering.  

Some of the skills we will work on in order of difficulty are:

  • Recognize & Plan Footholds for your climb
  • Identify and use small Crimp holds & edges 
  • Matching feet
  • Recognizing Vertical walls
  • Cross Through 
  • Switching feet
  • Quiet feet

Yoga
Yogis will be learning about teamwork, bravery, and friendship with the Pout Pout Fish (click the link for more pout pout activities for home).
Some of the poses we will play with are:
  • Ocean Poses: Sea Turtle (Tortoise), Crab (Reverse Table), Jellyfish (Happy Baby)
  • Surfing Sequence: Warrior II, Up Dog, Plank, Dolphin, Tadasana
  • Breath Work: Ocean Breath (Ujjayi), Crashing Wave Breath
